Media key to bringing succour to the vulnerables — NUJ Chair

The media is a key actor in the crusade to bring succour to the poor and vulnerables in the country.
The Chairman Nigerian Union Journalists ( NUJ) Kaduna State Council North West Nigeria, Comrade Adamu Yusuf made the assertion during a Two- day media Round Table discussion to enlist the support of the media to increase visibility of Social protection Activities in Kaduna state.
He explained that the role of the media to put smile on the faces of the poor and vulnerables can not be under estimated.
Comrade Adamu Yusuf commended the Child Development Grant Programme (CDGP) in collaboration with UKAid ,Save the Children International SCI and Kaduna State Social Protection Accountability Coalition (KADSPAC) for gathering heads of Media organizations in Kaduna to brainstorm on the Social protection intervention.
In his welcome address Farouk Abdukadir said the Child Development Grant Programme
II will focus on supporting the Federal government and selected state governments (Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano and Zamfara) to strengthen their social protection systems, in order to contribute to a greater coverage of inclusive and accountable social protection.
He added that the CDGP, is a UKAid funded social protection programme, implemented by Save the Children and Action Against Hunger that commenced in Nigeria in 2014.
Farouk who is the Cordinator Advocacy and Communication further added that the Media Executive were selected because of their role in the society.
In her presentation the Chairman of KADSPAC Jessica Bartholomew urged the Media Executives to key into the Social protection policy.
