Rachel Serumun Ugye inaugurates first female Chairman Nigerian Society of Engineers, kaduna branch

Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), kaduna State North West Nigeria, yesterday inaugurated first female chairperson almost 50 years after its creation in the state.

was the woman behind the jinx breaking history as she emerge as the new state chairman of the body.
Speaking with journalists after her inguration Engr Ugye
promised to offer a purposeful leadership to the Society to pave way for more women to be so elected by the union.
She said, “This have come of age, and it is time for women to put up themselves in any leadership position in the country, instead of always feeling intimidated by men around. I will use my experience as a woman to pilot the affairs of the Society well and ensure that welfare of the members is guaranteed.”
She promised to engage the state government meaningfully to ensure that members of the union get what is due to them in their different work places, assuring that during her tenure, no members will be intimidated by the employees.
According to her past Chairmen have done a lot to take the Branch to where it is today.
“I have worked with most of them over the years and have learnt a lot. I pledge to use these experiences and build on your successes to move this Branch to greater heights.
“My Immediate Past Chairman, Engr. Nasir Dallatu Umar, MNSE, Ubandoman Chawai, thank you for leading us right.
“We enjoyed peaceful coexistence during your tenure and that has brought us thus far. As I take over from here, I solicit your unflinching support and I believe we can achieve more.
“This installation only reminds us that we each represent just a single point in the continuous development of our dear Branch, building on the achievements of our predecessors and laying down the groundwork for the achievements of our successors.
As the adage goes ‘’United we stand, divided we fall”,
“I call on all members to join hands with me to take this Branch to enviable heights. Challenges will come, but if we work together as a team, we shall overcome them and achieve our set objectives. I assure you that I will do my best to create an enabling environment where unity will thrive.’
She expressed dismay that the Branch lack a befitting Secretariat, saying her predecessors have tried over the years, but due to the impecunious state of the Branch they have been unable to accomplish this great objective. It is the dream and resolve of this Executive Committee (EXCO) by the grace of God, to build a befitting Secretariat for NSE Kaduna Branch.
“We call on all of you gathered here today to support us in this cause, so that engineers in Kaduna Branch will hold their heads high and discharge their duties without fear or trepidation.
“The strength of a Branch lies with the Chapters. It is therefore, the desire of this Executive Committee to support, work closely and collaborate with the Chapters of this Branch for a better synergy and output.
“Its also the desire of this EXCO to employ strategies that will; Increase membership strength, collaborate with international partners on professional development programs like Schools/STEM outreach,Create wealth for members and the Branch, Strengthen our relationship with other professional bodies,Strengthen our relationship with government and its agencies Provide welfare for our members and improve mentorship of our Young Engineers ” she said
In his remark the out going Chairman Engr. Nasir Dallatu Umar, Ubandoman Chawai expressed his gratitude to all members for the support he and his Exco enjoyed during his tenure .
Engr. Nasir Dallatu Umar, promised to always be there for the incoming Chairman and the Exco to move the Society forward.
