Night life waning in kaduna due to insecurity

By:Femi Mustapha

Residents of  kaduna State North West Nigeria, has  reduced their nightlife activities because of the current activities of kidnappers and bandits  bedeviling the state.

Investigation by our Reporter revealed that the once vibrant nightlife state is gradually turning to a ghost of itself.

The state is known for  men and women seen at bars, unwinding after a long day’s work to ease themselves of the hassles encountered in the course of the day.

As the evening progressed, other forms of entertainment such as nightclubs, live bands and bars would  begin to come alive. At this time, you’d see fun seekers wining and dining and shuffling their feet to the rhythm of  music played by DJs and live bands.

The several relaxation spots in  Barnawa Shopping Complex,, The Mangro spot along Patrick Yakowa way ,Sabo U/ Gwari Malali Low-cost and  Mahuta were always jam-packed  with each relaxation centre trying to outdo the other by adding something different to its services such as cocktail, comedians and dancers in a bid to endear itself to more regulars.

Also, some of these hang-outs provided residents the opportunity to unwind and fraternise with pals and business partners. Indeed, life was fun in any of the city’s many joint.

But  the gaiety  that characterise the city is almost gone because of  the current security situation in the State.

Besides insecurity, the situation worsened  with the COVID-19 pendemic stipulated that nightclubs, beer parlours and Event Centers  were closed down.

John Gyang who spoke to this reporter said, his family could not get the type of fun they used to get before in Television Village because of the security challenges.

“We couldn’t  go anywhere. We were so scared  that the first thing that come to our mind is thinking of our safety first

“There is always this fear that something could go wrong and we always have it at the back of our mind. As it is, everyday we go out to any of these joints and come home is a miracle.” He said

Alhaji Ibrahim who resides in Regasa,  Igabi Local Government Area said,  he used to be regular guest at Many marriage ceremony but the story has changed as he try to be home at the earliest hour.

Mr Bonnet  a resident of Maraban Rido  in Chikun Local Government Area says, the city was generally boring and people no longer stayed around in joint during the weekends.

Before the current security challenges, people who patronised Night Clubhouse usually as late as 12: AM even beyond, but that is history because.

People now leave their various joint as early as 8:PM and by 10 :PM the joints are closing for the day business.

Cecilia a regular at one of the Joints in Narayi in Chikun Local Government Area said in the past she stay out as late as 1AM but that has changed since she was attacked by hoodlums and her handset stolen.

The Public Relation Officer of Kaduna State Police Command ASP Muhammad Jalige said, the people are  now concern about their safety and that is the key reasons they avoid some areas.

No matter the explanation, it is not a gain saying that Night life is waning in kaduna due to the security challenges in the state.
