Malnutrition not limited to poor ,— Commissioner
Kaduna State Commissioner for Budget and Planning Commission, Mr. Thomas Gyang, has said malnutrition is not limited to children of the poor alone, as children from affluence homes are also malnourished.
He stated this when he received the State Committee on Food and Nutrition ( SCFN), led by the Director, Development Aid Coordination, , of the State Planning and Budget Salihu Lawal on advocacy visit to his office on 23rd February,2021.
Gyang said a visit round the town especially GRAs where this class of people resides showed some of their children looking obese due to the kinds of foods they consume.
The commissioner is of the opinion that this is a malnutrition issues and most be addressed.
He assured the team of the support of his Ministry in their efforts to end Malnutrition in kaduna state.
In his remarks, Director, Development Aid Coordination, Ministry of Planning and Budget Commission Salihu Lawal,
, said malnutrition needs a multi-sectoral approach to tackle it.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, National Steering Committee of CS-SUNN Ifedilichukwu Ekene – Innocent opined that the general insecurity in the country has worsened malnutrition.
He explained that the activities of bandits, kidnappers and insurgents has affected Nigerians’ ways of feeding.
said his team is in kaduna on advocacy visits to some MDAs to seek collaboration and how to end the menace.e
