Expert harps on awareness to check the sickle cell Anemia

The Founder of Sickle Cell Patients Health Promotion Center (SCPHPC) Kaduna, Hajia Badiya Magaji Inuwa has said massive campaign and awareness for people to know their genotype before marriage is the antidote to curb the sickle cell Anemia.
She stated this during the 2021 World Sickle Cell Day held in kaduna on 20th June, 2021
According to her couple should be know their genotype so that they will not produced sicklers in future.
She said it is disturbing to see sickle patients passed through so much pain during crisis which could have be preventable if their parents know their genotype before marriage.
Hajia Badiya , encouraged sickle cell patients not to be discouraged saying, “You are not the only ones going through this crisis, several others are also sickle cell patients and of course, it is not a death sentence.
The Foundation was earlier at the
Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna to donates Routine drugs to Sickle Cell Patients.
Hajia Badiya who is mother of two sicklers said in the days when she got married there was little awareness about sickle cell Anemia.
“But today with the Information Communication Technology, everyone is aware of the Anemia and it is matter of choice of people to marry whom they choose
“If you are AS and Your Partner is AS such relationship should be discouraged if not for anything for the children who will bear the pain,” She said.
