SCI Inaugurates State Media Working Group in Kaduna State

In its bid to broaden its activities in Kaduna State ,Save the Children International (SCI) has inaugurated State Media Working Group (SMWG) in kaduna State.
Inaugurating the SMWG in Zaria on 22nd June,2021 the Information and External Communication Specialist of SCI Mr. Kunle Olawoyi said the objective of the group was to strengthen the existing cordial working relationship with the Media in the state.
He stated further that other purposes include establishing a culture of working with the Media and recognition of the role of the Media in society, particularly in line with the Save the Children plans and policies , while maintaining formidable partnership on domestication of the Child Rights Act.
Olawoyi, further said great promise of mass media campaigns lies in their ability to disseminate well defined behaviourally focused messages to large audiences repeatedly, over time, in an incidental manner, and at a low cost per head.
In his own remarks, the Advocacy and Communication Coordinator
kaduna office , Farouk Abdulkadir disclosed that SCI is embarking on a four-year health and nutrition advocacy project funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Media Working Group is a key partner in the success of the Project.
Accordingly to him, the idea of the creation of SMWG emanated as results of the role the media plays in society, particularly information dissemination.
Farouk added that media plays a crucial role in educating and making individuals, communities, and society conscious about sustainable development, the need for more sustainable patterns of production and consumption, and encouraging them to take action directed towards change and a more sustainable future
