Newly elected president NCWS harps for more opportunities for women

The newly elected President of National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Kaduna North Council North West Nigeria,
Amina Lawal urged Goverment at all levels to give more opportunities to women to contribute in building a better Nigeria for the future.
She stated this in her acceptance speech as she took oath of office alongside other executive officers.
According to her, it is no longer news to say that as women in Africa, especially in Northern Nigeria have come a long way. Stemming from cultural dogmas to limitations occasioned by religion and tradition, saying a lot of women few years ago were stripped of systems and structures that could allow them contribute their talent and skills to the development of the nation.
Amina Lawal however said it is a good thing that women have progressed over the years.
“Empowerment programs of all kinds; local, national and international interventions and movements have pushed
the lid off women, thus creating a platform for them to be heard.
“Our mile stones in NCWS till date attest to the fact that there is hope for the common Nigerian woman.
“I find my nomination quite humbling. This vote of confidence cannot be taken for granted. While hoping to give in my very
best for the betterment of our society, I count on you all to support me in attaining the lofty heights we all desire.
“I thus accept this nomination thankfully while pledging my unalloyed commitment to serve women and mankind at large.
“I am certain that going forward, we will together decide a beautiful destination for our society, all geared towards building a nation in which the woman enjoys equal rights and opportunities in the conversations and deliberations that affect humanity.” She said
Amina Lawal salutes the courage and steadfastness lof Nigeria women especially in the midst of current challenges.
She assured to operate a open door policy and carry everybody along.
Amina Lawal who is champion of the causes of women and the girl child and founder of Toes to Heels Initiative, coordinator of the Academy for women’s Entrepreneurs in the state, commended the out going EXCO for the services to women in the state and promised to follow suit.
The state EXCO promised to work with the newly elected president to make Kaduna State and it’s women great again.
