AMDF takes fight against women/girls Gender-based violence to 2 LGAs in Kaduna
A group under the auspices of Africa Media Development forum( AMDF) in collaboration with Rise up and Public health Institute is taking the fight against girl/ women gender-based violence to Kaduna north and Kajuru Local government areas of Kaduna state.
The project manager, Mr. Benjamin Yunana Maigari disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kaduna North West Nigeria.
He explained that the project will take place in twelve Communities spread across five Districts in the two LGAs.
According to him, a survey conducted revealed that some harmful traditional practices being done under the pretense of religion is very common in the two LGAs, adding that the security in Kajuru Local government area has forced many of the locals to IDP Camps where they are prone to gender-based violence.
Similarly, the Executive Director of AMDF, Mr. Ilya Kure, said the gathering was to sensitize people from the communities in the project
It is not to say that it is not happening in boys and men, but this project I specific, and we are looking at two LG, twelve communities.
Mr. Kure explained that Kaduna North and Kajuru Local government areas base on statistics of low reportage of such incidences to law enforcement agency.
She explained that there are physical, emotional, and economic cases of violence.
