Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria ( FOMWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, has stressed the need for inclusive Education for the Deaf and the Dumb in Kaduna State to ensure that their abilities and potentials is tapped into.
The State Amira of FOMWAN, Pharmacist Aisha Isyaku Tukur, asserted this during the official commissioning of a Six million Naira Islamic School for the Deaf and Dumb in Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna South local government area on the 12th December, 2021.
Pharm. Tukur who avails that there is abilities in disabilities, said the association as one of its objectives decided to construct the school edifice which will teach the Deaf and the Dumb students Islamic education both in Arabic and English Language.
Speaking on the project, the Amira said the six million spent on the construction and furnishing of the School was donated by philanthropists who believed in the aims and objectives of the association.
Commissioning the School, the State Commissioner for Human services and Social Development, Hafsat Baba Mohammed, lauded the contributions of FOMWAN to the education of Deaf and Dumb in the State.
She said Education is the Passport for the future of the Deaf, Dumb, and other People living with disabilities.
“These beautiful children, who cannot speak, or hear need this kind gestures of our Muslims sisters more than us, especially as it is going to impact both the Islamic and western Education on the Students”.
Hajia Hafsat promised a working relationship with FOMWAN to ensure that the noble motives of building the School is sustained.
The Commissioner also expressed her profound appreciation towards the efforts of the staff of the school that was put in place to ensure that the Deaf and Dumb get the needed Education.
In her speech, the Zonal Director, Universal Basic Education Commission(UBEC),represented by Karima Sule Bako, said the commissioning of the Deaf School under FOMWAN is a clear demonstration of collective ambition to uplift the standard of School.
