An Activist and Coordinator of Coalition of Associations for Leadership, Peace, Empowerment and Development (CALPED), Yusuf Goje has warned Nigerians of danger in supporting aspirants, candidates because of money or gifts like cars, motorbikes and wrappers they will get.
He asserted this while speaking to media in Kaduna.
According to him, such politicians when elected into offices will divert the money meant for development, with tenfold profit, as their return on investment that is monies spent on supporters.
Goje who is also Leader of Local Government Accountability Mechanism (LGAM) explained that the supporters at that point would have spent the money or are unable to maintain or even disposed the gifts given to them.
“Sadly, you will then have to wait for the next cycle of elections before you are remembered again.
“Do not sell your conscience to the highest bidder, you are not only mortgaging yourself, but the future of your children. Your actions have consequences, do not forget that.
“Let’s engage, ask the right questions and hold the government accountable.” he said.
