The Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria(FOMWAN), Kaduna state Chapter, has charged Muslims Students on decent dressing as enshrined in the Holy Quran.
The State Amira Pharm. Aisha Ishaku Tukur gave the charged during the Woryd Hijab day celebration held in Kaduna.
She said the word Hijab Day was officially celebrated on the 1st of February, but the Association decided to shift it to weekend to accommodate more participants.
The Amira added that the Association focus on students in this year’s celebration to inculcate the “meaning, significance and experience” of hijab wearing by them at early age.
She cautioned all educational institutions and other agencies to stop harassing female Muslim students on the basis of wearing Hijab.
“Hijab is our Crown not a Crime, Hijab wearing Muslims in Nigeria have not erred or committed any crime in the constitution for upholding the right to wear their God’s given crowns hence the harassment, assault, persecution and molestation in all forms in private or public places must stop”.
A speaker, Barrister Bushra Mohammed Suleiman also said hijab wearing is a command from the Holy Quran, an as she quoted a verse where Allah(SWT) commanded all Muslim women to cover their bodies which include single, married and divorcees “every woman of faith has been commanded by God to dress decently by covering not exposing sensitive parts of their bodies “indecent and/or sexy dressing among women folk particularly those who attained puberty contributed at least 80% to the escalation of fornication and adultery among married, divorcees and singles in the society.”
She also added that Discrimination against Hijab anywhere in the world is discrimination against modesty.
“I call for an end to all forms of hostility and discrimination against female muslims.”
She said those female Muslim students chose not to dress immodestly but adorn themselves in Hijab as commanded by Allah in the Glorious Q’uran.
Similarly, Mrs Asma’u Makarfi urged parents to inculcate in their children, noting that “By the time they grow up, the habit will become part of their life,” she said.
