The Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), has frowned at the high rate of broken homes across the Country, saying it is the bane of the insecurity bedevilling the country.

The Amira said, worried by this, the state FOMWAN embarked on marriage counselling for married couples and Intending male to sensitize them on what is expected of them as husband and wife and most especially as parents as enshrined the Quran and also the teachings of the Prophet.
Presenting a lecture titled: Ideal relationship between spouses: A basis for proper upbringing of Children in Islamic Perspective, the permanent commissioner, Kaduna state peace commission, Hajiya Khadija Gambo said the violence and bias against Muslim women even in their matrimonial homes is becoming alarming and unacceptable.
According to her, Islam is a way of life and the Holy Quran is a perfect guide.
She further argued that Islam provides guidelines for men and women with nothing left unexplained, saying, “In the Quran, whenever men are mentioned, women are not left out. Even in giving names, the female version of the male’s name is always given.
“It is worthy of note to say that during the Jahiliya period, before the advent of lslam, women were regarded as properties to be inherited. They had no value and could not do anything or take decisions on their own even on matters affecting them”
“With the advent of lslam, women were emancipated. They are now treated with dignity and respect. Nevertheless, Muslim women must follow Islamic injunctions strictly in everything they do.”
Similarly, a lecturer from Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, Professor Yahaya Mujahid charged parents to discharge their responsibilities to their families effectively.
He explained that parents/Guardians would be held responsible by Allah in the way they trained their children/wards.
He raised concern on the increasing rate of security threat and crime in the society, blamed parents for failing to take full control of their entrusted responsibilities.
“Parents owe their children responsibility and quality education. Children should not be sent out in the name of seeking knowledge without parents taking care of their feeding, clothing and shelter as well as taking responsibility of the teachers. Anything short of that is an aberration of responsibility and the Almighty God will query such parents,” he said.
In her remarks, the acting Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe commended FOMWAN for the topic of the lecture saying, it has reawakened responsibility in couples.
She expressed Kaduna state continues support and partnership for people -oriented association like FOMWAN.
