CS-SUNN takes fight against malnutrition to rural areas

As part of its objectives to ensure that Kaduna state becomes malnutrition free, the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria, (CS-SUNN) has said it is taking the fight against malnutrition to the local government areas for a wider reach to the grassroots people.
The Kaduna state Coordinator of the Alliance, Ms. Jessica Bartholomew, disclosed this during an Entry meeting with Ward Development Committee, (WDC) and Primary Health Care Management Board in Chikun Local Government. Area yesterday.
According to her, CS-SUNN activities hitherto to has been concentrated at the Federal and State Government levels.
She, however, said it was time to move to the local government areas which are closer to the people and most of the PHCs are located within the jurisdiction.
Bartholomew informed the participants that as Community leaders they have important roles to play in educating their people on the importance of being part of the fight against malnutrition.
Speaking on the PINNS 2.0, Project Assistance of CS-SUNN, Mr. Kunle Ishola, said the Alliance has inaugurated the Partnership for Improving Nigeria Nutrition Systems (PINNS) 2.0 project.
The PINNS 2.0 project according to him was formally launched by CS-SUNN and nutrition stakeholders in Nigeria at a hybrid inception meeting held on November 15, 2021, in Abuja.
He explained that PINNS 2.0 is a three-year project designed to strengthen the Nigeria nutrition systems to be more Result-driven, Effective, Serviceable, Efficient, and Transparent for Human Capital Development (RESET4HCD).
He, therefore tasked the WDC members, traditional and key partners in taking the fight against malnutrition to the grassroots.
In his remarks, Chairman of the State Committee for Food and Nutrition, (SCFN) Bashir Muhammed, said the fight against malnutrition is Multisectoral.
Muhammed who was represented by the Director, of Development Aid Coordination, Linda Yakubu appreciated CS-SUNN for its commitment to the fight against malnutrition in the state.
She said, “Before, we do not have a Budget line for nutrition, but with your support, we now have a Budget line in all MDAs in the state.”
