Civil society organizations (CSOs) Government actors and the Media has held a meeting to review mechanism for tracking 2023 budget to ensure transparency and accountability in the  Kaduna State.

In her remarks, at the meeting on 22nd June 2023 the Secretary of KADBEAM, Gloria Bulus said various accountability mechanism recently met in Kano and developed a working tool that will be used for tracking, saying it is necessary to brief stakeholders in Kaduna  about the development for effective budget tracking

According to her the mechanisms reviewed the tracking tool for effective monitoring of the implementation of the 2023 education, health, and local government budget in Kaduna State.

Bulus said reviewing the tracking tools was a crucial step towards effective monitoring of projects and programmes in critical sectors.

The meeting was organised by the Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) a governance programme of the United kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in collaboration with KADBEAM, KADMAM, and LGAM).

Earlier, a Member member of  KADLGAM Mr Stephen WAYS said that the objective of the meeting was to facilitate reflection sessions with relevant actors in health and education on project tracking, support partners in health and education to review and adapt existing tools for project tracking.

He added that other objective includes, tracking of selected health and education projects in the 2023 budget and support citizens to sustain dialogue and advocacy efforts towards  influencing implementation of the 2023 educational and health budget for effective service delivery.

In his own remarks, Mr Dangwa Danjuma task the Civil Society Organisations (CSO) in Kaduna to brace-up  their activities and engagement for the benefit of the citizens.

He challenged to up their game  the area of information gathering in order to be up to date, assuring them that the accountability mechanism in the State are always available to give out information to the CSOs to ease their engagement.

Presenting a feedback on the tracking tool, Mr Seth Luke said the developed tool  is a platform where different sections of the budget can be tracked, saying it’s a development that will help the Community Development Chatter (CDC)  Champions who are at the grassroots to follow on the project.

Luke cautioned the participants that tracking of budget should not be limited to local government and the State alone but must include federal project.
