The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Kaduna North Local Government area chapter has called for continuous agitations towards gender equality.
President of the Society, Amina Lawal made the call during the celebration of the 2022 International Women’s Day (IWD) held in Kaduna.
Speaking on the team of this year’s celebration, ‘Breaking the Bias’ Mrs. lawal noted that it cannot be achieved by simply talking to people but through activism in many forms.
“I think it has to do with women in every sector, identifying the bias they face in their respective sectors. They should not only identify the bias, but also the losses suffered as a result of such bias,”
She suggested that this year’s theme should be sustained until gender equality is achieved.
She decried the fact that while there are lots of inequality for female citizens in the country, some were even backed by law and this she said, called for continuous agitations across sectors.
In her remarks, the Mother of the day, Hajiya Aisha Aliko Muhammed urged Women to venture into enterprenuership business, saying they are better business managers than Men.
Giving herself as an example, she explained that she has never worked for any Gov’t rather started business of her own.
Mrs Aliko who is the President of Nigeria Association of Women Enterpreneurs, and also the proprietor of Aisha Muhammed International School explained that she had ventured into any type of Business, and today she’s comfortable, hence, called on other Women to follow suit.
Similarly, a ‘He for She’, Engr. Jibril Galadima Umar working with Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), urged Women to Unite, pledging to support them before Men.
