The Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna state chapter, has commended the Kaduna state health insurance Scheme, saying it is a good initiative that will go a long way in addressing health challenges faced by the residents through out of pocket payment.

The  CAN State Chapter chairman, Reverend Joseph John Hayab gave the commendation when he received  management of the  KADCHMA led by the Director General, Mr. Abubakar Hassan in his office for a courtesy visit.

Revd Hayab said the scheme is a noble idea that should be pass across to the grassroots.

He frowned that the message as benefiting to the people  is  not getting to the required people due to the technicality of the message which he advised should be simple and direct.

Hayab,  however said as a faith- based organization they will ensure that the message of the health insurance Scheme gets down to the grassroots through the pulpit.

Earlier in his remark, the DG of KADCHMA, Mr. Abubakar Hassan said faith based organizations  play a crucial role in sensitizing members of the public on the need to enrol for the state’s health insurance and take advantage of its benefits, considering the economic health situation of the country and the unexpected health crises that arises.

According to him, KADCHMA is
Mapping out a renewed focus and  energy in terms of reviewing their strategies in the last few years from inception till date with respect to penetrating into the informal sector.

Hassan stressed the role of the clerics, saying, religion plays a very key role in stimulating acceptance and conveyance of information that people tend to follow.

He added that Nigeria is a religious country, so it is key that messages that affect the people impact on even on their level of compliance with religion.

“Our message from KADCHMA is good health for the residents of Kaduna and,  we have started the process of ensuring that we carry religious leaders/institutions along. We are meeting with  CAN today, which is an umbrella that guide chriatanity religious activities of people or residents of Kaduna State.”

“Religion is the opium of the masses, so once you hear, it becomes part and parcel, of  behaviour, so is like getting people to understand that their health is important to them.”. The DG said.
