El-Rufai’ urges residents to key into Kaduna State state health insurance scheme

Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’ has urged residents of the state to enrol in the state’s health insurance scheme, saying the health insurance initiative would help in achieving Universal Health Coverage.
He asserted this at the Tax dialogue held at the Yar Adua Hall of Murtala Square Kaduna, yesterday.
The Governor said the health scheme was mandatory for all residents in order to have access to quality health care services scheme which was designed to reduce out of pocket expenses for the residents that could lead them to impoverishment and help in achieving Universal Health Coverage.
He said, “All employers are expected to register with Kaduna State Heath Contributory KADCHMA to obtain a Corporate Identity Number in order to buy health plans for their employees from the Health Maintenance Organisations of their choice.
According to El-Rufai’ the health scheme was mandatory for all residents in order to have access to quality health care services.
Speaking to the Media, the Director General of Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority KADCHMA Abubakar Hassan said the Authority
believe that this will unbundle the opportunities that are in there and give people the needed boost and confidence to enrol into the scheme.
He added that KADCHMA expected tremendous patronage due to this very timely intervention by Governor El-Rufai’.
Mallam Hassan further said
the scheme gives two options for now with the opportunity to enjoy a benefit package of over 80 ailments which will be provided by the Primary up to the tertiary institutions
“An individual is expected to pay on an annual basis the sum of 10,650 and a family 57,990.
“The Government through the Contributory Health Authority has made the payments more flexible and once can pay these plans within three months
“In order to achieve this boost we have the flexibility plan on boosting this enrollment and support the progress we have the flexibility plan and the about to be introduced P4H which will cover all segments of our Agric based economy.
“This will majorly be achieved through a community based initiative to be piloted by 255 community based individuals” he said.
