A group under the auspices of Connected Development (CODE) has sought the Royal Support of the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, in tracking the delivery of constituency projects in Kaduna State.
The Follow the Money team lead in the state, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, asserted this during a courtesy visit to the Emir in his Palace at Zaria on 25th July 2023.
Mohammed said the team was in the palace to seek the Royal father’s blessings on the current “On Nigeria Project” tracking, supported by the MacArthur Foundation, in the State with the mandate to “Deepening Citizens’ Interest in Government Spending and Addressing Accompanying Corrupt Practices (DeSPAAC).”
He explained that the Tracking aims to ensure the quality delivery of constituency projects in the state.
The Follow the Money team lead informed the Royal Father that CODE was established in 2012 to empower marginalized communities to demand quality goods and services from the government.
He added that CODE was achieving this by creating platforms for dialogue and building citizens’ capacity to hold their government accountable through its “Follow The Money” initiative.
Mohammed stressed that one of the objectives of the project is to track and monitor the implementation of 2020-2023 Constituency projects in the 23 LGAs of Kaduna State.
They also congratulated the Emir on his appointment as the new Chancellor of the University of Jos.
In his remarks, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli expressed delight over the efforts of CODE in the tracking of constituency projects, saying this is the first time any organization has visited the Emirate during his tenure for project tracking.
The Royal father also expressed his joy at the CODE’s team whom he described as focused youths. He urged the organization to continue tracking community projects for service delivery and assured them of his support.
