The Senior Pastor, House of Purpose Ministry, U/Sunday, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Apostle Yakubu Yusuf, has urged Nigerians to be closer to God at a time when hardship is visible in the land.
Speaking to the Media on the preparation for the 2023 National Purpose Fire Convention with the Theme “The Wealthy Place,” Apostle Yakubu said only equity, fairness, and closeness to God under the right leadership can end any hardship in the country.
He explained that this year’s convention is going to be a prophetic moment where God will be real in the life of his people, hence they should use the opportunity to seek God’s face on the way forward.
Apostle Yakubu stressed that every nation goes through turbulent times. As they say, ‘Tough times don’t last, tough people do’ hence, very soon, all hardship bedeviling the citizens would be a thing of the past.
According to him, in a time like this, the church has a role to play in encouraging the people and uniting the country by creating an atmosphere for the desired peace which the 2023 National Purpose Fire Convention will provide.
“As the Bible says in the Book, Matt. 11 Verses 28 to 29: ‘Come to me, all who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
“We have no other choice because God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. He is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble and a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him.
“I, therefore, call on Nigerians, especially those living in Kaduna, to take advantage of the convention to pray for themselves, the nation, and its leadership for God’s help in times of these needs,” he said.
Apostle Yakubu opined that Nigeria is going through various challenges now but gave hope to Nigerians that the problems were surmountable.
He, therefore, admonished churches to come alive and play their important roles, even as our societies are afflicted with all manners of ills ranging from insurgency, kidnapping, cultism, banditry, sexual assaults, and a host of others.
The role of the church, as the conscience of the nation, is an age-long fact, which has become the guiding light for any society that desires development.
“It is, therefore, imperative that the love of God be extended to all, while people are implored to eschew bitterness, and the Convention will harp on all these,” he concluded.
