2023: EFCC, CODE warns on vote buying

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has called on Nigerians especially students, to ensure that they get rid of vote-buying and remain circumspect as the 2023 elections approach.

Follow the Money program held at Kaduna Polytechnic yesterday.
According to him, Nigerians students need to enjoy the dividends of democracy through credible elections therefore they should not succumb to any political pressure, but to say ‘no’ to vote-buying.
Erin said that the war against corruption was not one that should be left to the EFCC alone, but one which was being waged collectively by all Nigerians.
In her remarks, the Founder of Connect Development (CODE), Hamza Lawal said Voter apathy has been a recurring issue in all elections conducted in Nigeria and the youth who are mostly students need to be scientists.
Lawal represented by CODE Community Engagement Officer Murktar Moddibo explained that the electoral process provides citizens the opportunity to decide those who will represent them at the local, state and national level, saying It is important that all eligible voters participate in all electoral processes.
Similarly, Program Manager of CODE, Saga Lawal stressed that Nigerians Campuses boasts of many eligible voters armed with their PVCs. Hence the need for the Campus Tour to enlightened them
on voter’s registration to voting properly,
Speaking during a panel discussion, Bulah Bello of ICPC said the issue of Vote Buying and Others are expected to be on the front burner as the campaigning for the 2023 Elections continues apace.
He however said the ICPC act frowned at Vote Buying he therefore urged the students to keep away from it.
The Dean Students affair of Kaduna Polytechnic, Farunk Musa said the institutions are putting mechanisms in place to check every form of corruption in the Campus.
Speaking in the same vein, the President of the Students Union Government, Comrade Abubakar Rabbi said the student body will be working round the clock to ensure the every money for any project is put in the direction.
