Younger Generation Fundamental To Peace, Security — AYCF

The National President of the Arewa youth consultative Forum (AYCF) Alhaji Yerima Shettima has said the younger generation is very fundamental to sustaining peace and security in the Country and the government must create an atmosphere where they can come to the fore.
He stated this while speaking to journalists at an interactive session organized by the joint Arewa Committee in Kaduna yesterday.
Alhaji Shettima said it is not enough to provide jobs for them, but also, also a conducive environment to develop their potential.
According to him, when there is a conducive environment, they will be able to acquire skills through training.
He explained that the development and inclusion of the youth is not a responsibility of the Federal or state governments alone, therefore AYCF is anticipating a situation where the Local government chairman or state governor puts into consideration plans that youth to be keyed into certain programs in order to reduce the number of unemployed youth that move on the street especially the northern part of the country.
The AYCF President added that when there is a conducive environment, the youth are bound to acquire and become productive.
Speaking on the interface with Presidential candidates by a joint Area Committee, he said it is important that the North have come to conclusion to discuss and form synergy and listen to the candidates and give everyone a level playing ground devoid of religion or ethnicity rather program that will be the best interest of the country but the North in particular.

“And those are recruited easily into this banditry and so on, over 70% of them are of our generation, so we are very much concerned because you are bound to have situations like this when you have the bulk of people who are unemployed doing nothing, there is always a saying which says an idle man is a devils workshop’ he said.
